“I believe in you.”

When it comes to giving to the ones you love, I’ve always loved giving gifts that cannot be purchased elsewhere. It sends them a blunt and tangible message that they’re special in my eyes. You can’t compare anything else in the market with a custom-made product, can you?

This came in the mail! The preview for us to send feedback on what we want more of and what we’d like to cut in the final product. Thank you so much MomentoChronos :)

But the older I get, the more I realize that the best gift doesn’t necessarily subsist in a well-thought-out by-product, or even that unique, one-of-a-kind element of the gift itself. The best you can give to someone is believing in the person. It’s the most powerful force ever IMO, to just be there, look into their eyes and say, “I believe in you.” (especially if the person himself/herself does not, much less anyone else in the world)

There are literally countless presents hubs have gotten me that I consider priceless over the course of our relationship. I feel special not because the presents themselves are unique (they’re all store-bought), but because I can glorify His name and give back honor to my husband through those presents. I took the guitar he gave me on stage to surprise him on our wedding day. Heck, this whole blog exists because he keeps giving me nice cameras.

Above everything though, it was his faith in the best of me that was the most precious gift of all. Him looking right through me as if saying, “I see you” whenever I’m being unlovable, him listening to me as if whispering, “I feel you” whenever I reveal my emotions. It’s also this trust that’s made me confident in saying “Yes” the day he proposed. His faithfulness in me is just like Christ. How could I not say “Yes”?

Having brought me into his faith, I believe there’s a special place in heaven waiting for him at the end of this life.

What your celebrity birthday buds say about you

Departing from reading my horoscopes and all the hippy-hippy New Age-y stuff I used to indulge myself into, my recent guilty pleasure is looking up the celebrities who share my birthday, then see what they all have in common. Though there will never come a day when there’s scientific basis for astrology, a recent […]

How to be perfect

This one’s dedicated to the fellow idealists and believers. All verses are quoted from the English Standard Version (ESV) bible. I find them a sufficient reminder for life of what’s truly perfect and what’s not. Hope you find these verses helpful too. 1. My little children, I am writing these things to you so that […]

Nota Bene

10 steps to believe you’re beautiful

feelbeautiful-01

How you perceive yourself has a much bigger effect on your day than you might think. Plus, it’s so easy to feel unpretty in the face of roadside billboards and the pages of glossy magazines (especially on bad hair days).

My hair is fine today, thanks, and this morning I want to share my personal battle with self-esteem. I still attempt to overcome it on a daily basis, and there’s a whole dark side to the story that I’ll be sharing next week. But for now, let me just run through what I do to pick myself back up again:
